Simple Steps: How to Repair Wooden Furniture at Home

In order to pursue the natural wood texture, most of the solid wood furniture sold in our store are surface treated with natural wood wax oil . Different from chemical treatment (such as using varnish/strength frame, which will completely seal the wood, I will leave this to be shared next time), using natural wood wax oil can maintain the color and texture of the wood. In addition to visual distortion, it can also vaguely Feel the undulating wood grain.

Furniture is used frequently every day, especially dining tables, desks, and TV cabinets. It is inevitable that there will be signs of use, such as dishes hitting the table, wet soda cans leaving water, toy cars scratching the wood, and cats scratching the wood. Using furniture for claw practice, etc. may cause injuries.

~If you face minor flowers or water stains, you can try to repair them yourself~

Step 1: Prepare the required tools

  • Towel (it is better to use cotton cloth, because the cloth loop of the towel may pick up wood splinters, but if you only repair minor scratches and do not involve any damage to the wood, it does not matter! Towels seem to be easier to find)
  • Wood Guard Wax/Wood Wax Oil (Wood Guard Wax will be easier to use if you have no woodworking experience in the past)
  • Sandpaper No. 300-500 (suitable for darker patterns) / Sandpaper No. 800-1000 (Use and polish when the flower is shallow)

Step 2: Find the stained area and gently rub it with sandpaper along the direction of the wood grain (in this demonstration, since the stain is shallow, fine-grained sandpaper can be used directly) until the stain disappears. [It is recommended to cut the sandpaper into thin sheets like the demonstration picture. It is easy to get started and you don’t have to worry about sanding it to a perfect place! ]

Step 3: Sweep away the wood powder and dust. The parts of the wood that have been polished will be lighter in color. That's normal, because the previous step rubbed away the top layer. Just sweep or vacuum the wood debris away!

Step 4: Apply wood guard wax. Dip a small amount of wood guard wax on a towel, and rub it back and forth in the direction of the wood grain several times (if it's not enough, apply it again, otherwise the wood will feel oily. Just the right amount, too much oil doesn't mean it's good.)

Step 5: Apply the wood guard wax evenly. The wood wax oil will be obviously greasy when it is first applied. Just spread the oil back and forth and outward, and then wait for the wood to dry on its own and the oil will be ok. Wait about 15-20 minutes!!

It doesn’t matter if your hands are really heavy and you put it too much (please don’t wash it away with water!!), because the wood has pores and will slowly absorb the oil, just like when we apply body lotion, it needs to be absorbed by the skin~ It’s ok use towel Use the clean part and rub it outward to help absorb the oil.

Step 6: YEAH done! ! You can open a can of Coke to comfort yourself~ But if you drink, remember to use a coaster, otherwise there will be water stains and you will have to loop back to the first step :(

Once you know the techniques and methods, you can always Repair! Frankly speaking, furniture will inevitably suffer damage due to daily use. If you are on alert every second, it will become too hard. People with experience are particularly attracted (personally think haha), all wood is the same!

If Xiaohua㾗 doesn't mind too much, just get together and repair it once a year.

If there is really serious damage, such as large burns (there will be a white mark), dents...or it has been used for many years and it has become too damaged. Welcome to contact us. Professional carpenters can provide repair services . We can re-sand and oil the countertop and it will look brand new! !

This is why we love solid wood furniture
